Téma: Jak postupovat / p in Buffalo on Tuesday. NO ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Sean Rodriguez of the Tampa Bay Rays has grounded into a triple play for the second time in his career. The Rays had runners on first and second in the second inning Thursday night against the Yankees. Rodriguez hit a hard grounder off CC Sabathia that rookie third baseman Yangervis Solarte fielded, and he stepped on the bag to retire Evan Longoria. Solarte threw to second baseman Brian Roberts to get Wil Myers. The play ended when Scott Sizemore, playing at first base for the first time in his career, made a nice scoop of Roberts relay throw to get Rodriguez. It was the first triple play hit into by the Rays since Rodriguez grounded into one on Aug. 16, 2011, at Boston. Sabathia was pitching the previous time the Yankees turned a triple play. That happened on April 12, 2013, against Baltimore. LOS ANGELES — After a four-day break in the schedule allowed them to stew over a couple of recent losses, Jonathan Quick and the Los Angeles Kings returned to the rink with a determination to keep pace in the tough Pacific Division. Mike Richards and Anze Kopitar scored power-play goals, and Quick earned his first shutout of the season in the Kings 2-0 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night. Richards had a goal and an assist for the Kings, who came back from their break with their ninth victory in 13 games. Quick, who made 19 saves in his 26th career shutout, thought Los Angeles responded well to its lengthy stretch of rest and practice. “With the Olympic year, you miss some days here and there with practice and being able to work on the details,” said Quick, a possible U.S. national team goalie. “So we had a good three practices where we were able to get some work done.” Quick celebrated his 300th NHL game with his first regular-season shutout since last March 18, punctuating the win with a handful of scrambling saves late in the scoreless third period. Quick even kept his brother-in-law, Buffalos Matt Moulson, off the scoresheet. “Having him back there as a defenceman always makes me feel safe,” said Drew Doughty, whose pass set up Kopitars goal in the second period. The Kings dropped tough games against Phoenix and Nashville last week. At 10-6, Los Angeles is off to another good start to the season after back-to-back trips to the Western Conference finals — but good isnt enough in a division featuring Anaheim, San Jose, Phoenix and Vancouver. With Quick leading a solid defensive performance, Los Angeles won without two of its top forwards. Jeff Carter, the Kings top goal-scorer, missed his second straight game with a foot injury, and centre Jarret Stoll sat out for the first time this season with an upper-body injury. Linden Vey made his NHL debut for the Kings in their absence, centring the fourth line with Kyle Clifford and Jordan Nolan. Fellow youngster Tyler Toffoli had an assist for the second straight game since getting called up for the first time this season. Jhonas Enroth stopped 26 shots for the NHL-worst Sabres (3-14-1), who couldnt follow up their stunning win at San Jose with another surprise on their three-game California road trip. Buffalo hasnt won consecutive games all season. “;I think we outchanced them in the five-on-five department,” Buffalo captain Steve Ott said.dddddddddddd “Theyre a good veteran club that is used to playing in those kinds of situations, but I liked our effort tonight. It was the same as in San Jose. Our passion and pride has been way better in the last two games, and thats the way we have to play to have any success in this league.” Defenceman Christian Ehrhoff left the Buffalo bench early in the third period with a lower-body injury. Buffalo coach Ron Rolston said Ehrhoff was fine. The Sabres play at Anaheim on Friday night. Buffalo controlled the flow of play early on, but the Kings broke through in the final minute of the first period, with Richards redirecting Jake Muzzins shot from the point for his fourth goal in six games. Kopitar scored during 4-on-3 play midway through the second period, putting a changeup one-timer past Enroth after a slick cross-ice give-and-go with Doughty. Kopitar has goals in three straight games and four in the past six since ending his 26-game regular-season goal drought late last month. “We played well at times in the game, but obviously we put them on the power play too much tonight,” Rolston said. "Theyve been together for a long time, so they have continuity in their power play. “Its a 1-0 game, were on the power play, and two minutes later, they have (another power play). Thats not a very good recipe when you want to have a successful night.” The Sabres, shut out for the fourth time already this season, hadnt visited Staples Center since Jan. 21, 2010. The Kings open a four-game road trip in Buffalo on Tuesday. NOTES: Moulson and Quick are married to sisters Alicia and Jaclyn Backman. Moulson was in the Kings organization from 2006-09, scoring six goals in 29 games in Los Angeles, but never catching on with the big-league club. Moulson had two goals and four assists in his first four games with the Sabres, who acquired him from the New York Islanders late last month. … Los Angeles D Robyn Regehr faced Buffalo for the first time since the Sabres traded him to the Kings late last season. … After Kings F Matt Frattin landed a hard check on Cody McCormick late in the second period, Buffalos 6-foot-8 Tyler Myers challenged the 6-foot Frattin to a fight. Frattin wrestled Myers to the ice, and Myers got an extra penalty for holding. ’ ’ ’ |

Téma: Jak postupovat / ner, as the Flames snapped WASHINGTON — LeBron James only visible significant role was that of postgame heckler, interrupting Michael Beasleys interview amid a loose, upbeat locker room that normally wouldnt jibe with a 21-point loss — or throwing in a towel in the race for a No. 1 seed. James and Chris Bosh took the night off Monday, and the Heat were beaten 114-93 by the Washington Wizards in a no-contest game that guaranteed the Eastern Conferences top seed for the Indiana Pacers. So, no disappointment at all? “There would be no disappointment,” said Dwyane Wade, who played because he needed some minutes after his recent nine-game layoff with a hamstring injury. “When the playoffs start, we have a new season and we will be looking forward to it.” So the Pacers are locked in to a first-round series against the eighth-seeded Atlanta Hawks, while the two-time defending champion Heat get the No. 2 seed and either the Wizards or the Charlotte Bobcats. Miami began the day still in contention for the top spot, but they would have needed to win their last two games and have Indiana lose to Orlando on Wednesday because the Pacers hold the head-to-head tiebreaker. Figuring it would be better to be fresh for the post-season, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra sat two of his Big Three, saying they were dealing with “minor ailments” from “the residual of a long season.” “It was out of our control. Those guys put in a lot of mileage,” Spoelstra said. “Our schedule was fairly extreme down the stretch. Ive never been a part of a group thats played that many games in that few of days down the stretch. Thats not an excuse, but we want to just make sure our guys are sharp and feeling healthy.” James has made it part of his annual routine to rest before the playoffs. He missed the final game in 2011 and sat out the last two in both 2012 and 2013. Trevor Ariza scored 25 points to lead the Wizards, who shot 59 per cent and made 14 3-pointers and remain one game ahead of the Bobcats in the race for the No. 6 seed. Washington has made it a point to avoid finishing seventh to keep from having to face the Heat in the first round — knowing full well the cast of characters will be different than it was Monday night. “We played against a totally different Miami Heat today than usual,” Wizards centre Marcin Gortat said. “Nothing to be excited about. … It was more like a scrimmage game than a big battle.” The Heat went with their 20th starting lineup of this season and trailed by as many as 36 in the second half. Beasley finished with 18 points, Toney Douglas had 14, and Wade scored nine in 18 minutes. Miami has lost four of five and is just 11-13 since March 4, including 3-9 on the road. Gortat had 10 points and 13 rebounds, and John Wall added 13 assists for the Wizards, who have seemingly escaped their 3-point shooting slump. After going 6 for 50 from long range over a three-game span, theyve since made 22 of 51 in their last two games. Ariza, whose shooting was hampered by a bout with the flu, made five of eight 3-pointers Monday night. Also, Nene, who sat out the Wizards previous game after feeling some stiffness in his recently sprained left knee, looked more like his energetic old self as he scored 18 points off the bench. Andre Miller supplied the games biggest highlight, making an overhand paint-to-paint pass to Bradley Beal that would make an NFL quarterback jealous. Beal caught the ball in stride and made the layup in one fluid motion while drawing a foul to set up a three-point play. “It was a post route,” Beal said. “The safety bit on a ball fake, so I was able to beat the corner and I got free for a touchdown. Hopefully the Redskins will pick me up.” NOTES: The Heat were also without C Greg Oden, who did not make the trip to D.C. because of a stomach virus. … The Wizards sold out for the fourth time this season. jerseys from china . The Trail Blazers lead the first-round series 3-2 entering Game 6 on Friday in Portland. A basket by Damian Lillard got the Trail Blazers within two points before James Harden stepped back and swished a 3-pointer to make it 103-98 with about three minutes left. nfl jerseys china . Whether starting or coming off the bench, Johnson has always accepted his role in stride, part of whats made him the Raptors unsung hero for the better part of the last three seasons. http://www.wholesalejerseysfamily.com/. The team says Paul is day to day and is questionable for Mondays game against New Jersey. Paul is averaging 18.0 points, 8.4 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 37.3 minutes in nine games for the Clippers, who beat Miami and the Lakers in their last two games. wholesale jerseys . Sean Monahan scored two goals, including the overtime winner, as the Flames snapped a two-game losing skid with a 2-1 victory over the Oilers in a game between two of the NHLs current lesser lights. Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans ended up with the bigger problem.ASHBURN, Va. — Tanard Jackson has been reinstated by the NFL after a drugs-relation suspension that lasted through two seasons, and the Washington Redskins have to decide whether he fits into their plans. Redskins general manager Bruce Allen said Tuesday he planned to meet with Jackson after the veteran safety takes a physical. Said Allen: “We might give him a chance.” Jackson was suspended indefinitely without pay by the NFL in August 2012 for violating the leagues substance abuse policy.dddddddddddd It was his third drugs-related suspension, and it came a few months after he signed a one-year contract with the Redskins. Jackson was required to sit a minimum of one year before applying for reinstatement. He ended up missing both the 2012 and 2013 seasons, but he remains under contract to the Redskins. ’ ’ ’ |

Téma: Jak postupovat / Redblacks for QB Kevin Glenn.FLORHAM DALLAS – Monta Ellis came to Dallas because he wanted to pair up with Dirk Nowitzki and see what kind of scoring tag team they could be. With the Mavericks in danger of making their playoff road much more difficult, they shared their best moment of the season. Ellis matched his season high with 37 points and Nowitzki scored 21 of his 23 during a second-half rally that carried the Mavericks back to the post-season in a 101-98 victory against the Phoenix Suns on Saturday night. “The reason we won is because we had one of the best players on the planet in Dirk,” coach Rick Carlisle said. “And because Monta Ellis, at the time we needed him most, stepped up and played his biggest game of the year.” The Mavericks left the Suns and Memphis to battle for the last playoff spot in the Western Conference by winning their home finale, and avoided a possible winner-take-all game at the Grizzlies on the last night of the regular season. Dallas is back in the playoffs after a 12-year streak ended last season. “It felt like the playoffs started early this year,” Nowitzki said. “This is where we want to be, on the big stage of the playoffs.” Eric Bledsoe scored 29 points and Channing Frye had 21 after a hot start for the Suns, who play Memphis on Monday night in a game that figures to go a long way toward deciding the final playoff team in the West. “Weve got to stay positive,” Bledsoe said. “You could tell it was a playoff atmosphere. I thought everybody laid it out on the court.” Ellis and Nowitzki brought the Mavericks back by hitting five 3-pointers between them in less than 4 minutes of the third quarter, erasing most of a 13-point deficit. Then they teamed to get the lead back in the fourth, and Dallas held on in the final minutes. Nowitzki broke an 89-all tie with a 3-pointer, shouting “Boom!” as he signalled a "3 with both hands. Seconds later, Ellis stole the ball from Frye and hit a tough layup with Bledsoe riding his hip. After a rare miss from Frye — who made his first five 3-pointers — Devin Harris hit a 3 from the top of the key, holding his arms up and looking to the ceiling in apparent relief after struggling from long range recently. The Suns were down 99-91, but got back within two when Bledsoe stole a pass by Ellis and coasted in for a layup with 1:15 remaining. It was one of 19 turnovers for the Mavericks, and the Suns had 18 in a fast-paced game with a lot of wild passes. Bledsoe then missed a free throw that would have tied the game again, and Ellis missed one of two from the line twice in the final 20 seconds to give Phoenix more chances to tie or go ahead. The Mavericks were finally safely in the playoffs when Markieff Morris was off target on a high-arching 3-point try with 2 seconds left. Ellis, who was 15 of 23 from the field and made three of four from long range, kept up his hot shooting in the third quarter and Nowitzki joined him after a cold first half as the Mavericks top two scorers combined for 44 points after halftime. “I was just feeling what the defence would do,” said Ellis, who made the playoffs last year with Milwaukee but got swept by Miami in the first round and longed for a change, signing with Dallas as a free agent. “The floor was open for me. Coach just had me attack.” Dallas third-quarter surge started after P.J. Tucker missed a free throw on a potential three-point play that would have given the Suns their biggest lead at 70-56. Vince Carter made a driving layup and Ellis hit back-to-back shots from the side of the 3-point arc, screaming for emphasis after the second one. Then it was Nowitzkis turn to hit two in a row and shout, which he did after getting Dallas within 72-70 from a couple of feet behind the arc late in the third quarter. The Mavericks took their first lead since midway through the second quarter when Nowitzki hit a layup on a pass from Ellis to go up 88-87 midway through the fourth quarter. NOTES: Goran Dragic played with a sprained left ankle after missing a game the previous night in San Antonio and finished with 13 points on just 6-of-18 shooting. … Carter passed Adrian Dantley for 25th on the scoring list. He finished with 12 points and now has 23,183 points, six ahead of Dantley. . Los Angeles goaltender Martin Jones was named the second star, while Nashville goalie Carter Hutton earned the third star. Ovechkin began the week with his third four-goal game — and 13th career hat trick — including the tying goal with 32.4 seconds left in regulation, in a 6-5 shootout victory over Tampa Bay. Ovechkin scored the tying goal with 47.9 seconds left in regulation, in a 5-4 shootout win over Philadelphia. Ovechkin has a career seven game-tying goals in the final minute of regulation — three more than any other player since Ovechkin entered the league in 2005. The Capitals (18-12-3, 39 points) earned five out of a possible six points on the week. Jones poosted a 3-0-0 record with a 1.dddddddddddd00 goals-against average, .972 save percentage and one shutout to help the Kings (22-8-4, 48 points) move into second in the Pacific Division and third in the League standings. Téma: Jak postupovat / =http://www.cheapjerseyschin ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — Ben Street and Joni Ortio continue to carry the Abbotsford Heat night in, night out. Ortio picked up his American Hockey League-leading 11th victory and Street scored his team-high 14th of the season in the Heats 5-2 win over the San Antonio Rampage Saturday night. Street is the reigning AHL player of the month and has 21 points in his last 14 games. Ortio, meanwhile, made 28 saves and was the games first star. “Were obviously very confident with Joni and hes very confident,” said Heat head coach Troy Ward. “We feel if we are out of position, not in a proper posture that wed like to be in, defensively, we feel hes had our back. He had another strong performance. He had to make some critical saves at critical times.” That included a five-on-three and a four-on-three. “I cant say enough about Joni,” said Brett Olson, who had two assists on the night. “Hes been our backbone. Hes making saves when hes not supposed to make them and hes making saves when he should. So that helps, especially on the penalty kill. On the five-on-three he made a heck of an effort to get across but they made a nice play. But every other save hes made, some of them have been pretty miraculous.” Though the Rampage did score two power play goals, the Heat were definite winners on special teams, going 2 for 3 Saturday and 5 for 11 over the weekend sweep of the Rampage. “Everyone is in sync right now,” said Olson. Ortio gave his teammates credit as well, though. “It was huge killing off that four-on-three in the first period, with huge blocks from Street and (John) Ramage there,” said the Finnish netminder. “We must have blocked like 20 something shots tonight and that makes my job a lot easier. Sometimes I havent got a clue where the puck goes.” Mark Cundari scored the eventual winner and had an assist while Ben Hanowski, Markus Granlund and Max Reinhart also tallied for Abbotsford (19-6-2). John Matsumoto and Bobby Butler replied for San Antonio (10-12-2) while Dov Grumet-Morris made 21 saves. The Heat drew first blood with a power play goal at 8:42 of the first period. Cundaris point shot was stopped by Grumet-Morris but Hanowski was there to jam the puck past the sprawling goalie for his ninth of the season. The Rampage tied the game with a power-play goal of their own in the first period. While failing to get much in the way of chances on the two-man advantage, they scored just after the initial penalty expired. Denny Urban fed it down low to Joey Crabb at the side of the net, who quickly fed a cross-crease pass to Matsumoto at the far post. The Ottawa native waited for Ortio to go down before roofing the puck for his fifth goal of the campaign. Street put the Heat back on top with only 28 seconds to play in the second period after taking a chip pass from Max Reinhart in full stride and quickly firing the rolling puck past Grumet-Morris. “The difference this weekend was getting goals at critical times, and who better to get it than Ben Street,” said Ward. “If you look at our team, and who looks like a real man out there, its Ben compared to the rest. His posture, his shift to shift consistency, and hes just as good with the puck as he is without it.” Cundari gave the Heat a two-goal cushion with a one-timer from the point that beat Grumet-Morris through the five-hole. “They over-committed and Mark was able to step into it and put a good one on net,” said Olson, who teed up the defencemans slap shot. “Josh Jooris did a great job screening in front – I dont think the goalie saw it. A good play off the face-off; Hanowskis been doing great on the draws on the left side.” Butler beat Ortio top corner from the top of the circle with just over four minutes remaining to bring the Rampage within one goal. But then Granlund picked up his 10th of the season with 1:36 to play, extending his point streak to nine games and Reinhart added an empty netter for his fifth of the year. “We had a better emotional response to the game,” said Ward. “At times I felt we were in control of the game and like any game at this level there were times we were not. We had better shift consistency; we didnt have a lot of holes. The even keeled-ness is one of their biggest strength as a team. Theyre never too high and never too low.” wholesale jerseys . And former Maple Leafs coach Ron Wilson certainly knows his pain. “Its pretty hard to coach there without allowing some of these things to kind of affect you,” Wilson told TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun in his ESPN. Téma: Jak postupovat / n a "substantial" contract offer The Day in 100 Words or Less It was another delicious day at the World Cup. The trends continued, and oh boy please let them continue on and on: Space in zone 14 for number 10s to exploit, clinical counter attacks, high defensive lines, poor defending, surprise results and lots and lots of goals. International football desperately needs a really good World Cup. At the moment it is providing a really great one. England 1-2 Italy – What a wonderful game of football. – Great teams can exploit an opponents weakness and Cesare Prandellis men did exactly that by working many of their attacks down the right. Matteo Darmian and Antonio Candreva tore England to shreds on that flank. Yes, Leighton Baines looked very average on a big stage but he wasnt helped. – Wayne Rooney, asked to play the left side of a three inside a 4-2-3-1, struggled terribly defending his flank. Roy Hodgson felt he did very well but if that was the case what was the reason for switching him to the right at the start of the second half? – Rooney will become the scapegoat the English press need to feast on but for a supposed world class player it is hard to feel sympathy for a man who has created a bar that is higher than most in that country. Few genuine world class players (which Rooney is not) do not play in four different positions during a game which is what the Manchester United man did, flipping from the left to the right back to the left and then up front as England made their subs. For me, he should be played up top as a striker but it is clear his manager has very little faith in him at the moment. – Rooney, who wasted a great chance by blasting wide on 61 minutes, has now played nine games in World Cups, combining for 685 minutes. He has more red cards (1) than goals (0). – Rooneys positioning aside it is difficult to think of anything Hodgson could have done differently. His team simply isnt near as good as Italy. He had no answer for the technical brilliance of Italys central midfield so he played his own game, counter attacking with pace. – That was how they scored their goal, from this position (below) when it took five seconds for Sterling-Rooney-Daniel Sturridge to make it 1-1. – Italy were excellent. Andrea Pirlo was even better than he was two years ago at Euro 2012 and alongside Daniele De Rossi and Marco Verratti were able to dictate the flow of the game. – England defended well and countered but it was difficult to play that style for the entire game and once again England didnt score in the second half (eighth time in their last nine at major tournaments). – Italy did and it came from a break down the right. Darmian hugged the touchline while the runs of his team-mates already had England nervous as Baines points… Darmian plays Candreva in behind and Englands backline is stretched… Claudio Marchisio makes an intelligent run to distract Glen Johnson. Candreva cuts back and prepares a great cross for Mario Balotelli to head home the winning goal. Colombia 2-0 Greece – The wonderfully proud country of Colombia had waited 5832 days to see their team play at a World Cup. Few things are worth waiting that long for but no Colombian in Belo Horizonte cared anything about the past on this day. – A year ago they were considered a contender for this World Cup. It scarred the country terrorized by high expectations of 1994 that ended in tragic circumstances. A year on, they were written off by some. Now it was their time to shine. – The stadium was a sea of yellow and on the pitch the game was played at South American pace. For the third successive day a South American team scored early, and when Pablo Armeros shot bundled into the back of the net on five minutes it was the earliest goal of the World Cup so far. – Armero got the glory but the architect was James Rodriguez. Without Radamel Falcao, manager Jose Pekerman misses a star striker but it does allow him to play five in midfield, something you cannot do with Falcao in the side. This meant James was placed deeper in a number ten role where he was given license to roam all over the field. – On the opening goal he picked up the ball deep and had the vision and guile to play a gorgeous ball into space for Juan Cuadrado to run on to. The moment he pinned the ball deep he sprinted into the box and within eight seconds was in the box, receiving the ball and drawing defenders towards him. Moments after this shot he dummied the ball and allowed Armero to slot the goal home. – Greece were forced to come out of their comfort zone and were the best team for 30 minutes in the first half. This is important because their World Cup is not solely based one match. How they react to this will be vital. Uruguay 1-3 Costa Rica – It is the World Cup that keeps on giving. A stunning result in Fortaleza has thrown a cat amongst the pigeons inside group D and no one can say Costa Rica didnt deserve it. – They were 7:1 underdogs heading into this game but they showed just how silly those odds looked. They never looked unsettled after going a goal down, through an Edinson Cavani penalty, and would defend brilliantly when asked. – At times they played a 5-5-0 formation with Bryan Ruiz and Joel Campbell dropping deep and demanding the ball. It was some contrast to Uruguays front two who couldnt get in the game. – World Cups do not care one bit for reputations. They create them. Many times we have seen old, slow players passed their prime be chewed up by the biggest stage and a day after Iker Casillas faltered for Spain, Diego Forlan did the same for Uruguay. – With no Luis Suarez (knee), Uruguays over-reliance on the front two meant the 2010 Golden Ball winner was thrust back into the limelight. It seemed like a big gamble by Oscar Tabarez and so it proved. Uruguay have a pedestrian midfield four, their wide players offer little, meaning the front two needs to click. Forlans place in the side pushed Edinson Cavani further forward and the two were invisible. Cavani is wasted as a pure target man. – It was a night that exposed Uruguays flaws. Much of their success has come against teams who have a lot of the ball who they can counter against. They couldnt do that today and, for once, when asked to be the team that dictated the match they buckled. – Fernando Muslera in goal is pathetic at this level; his centre-backs have no confidence in him or each other at set plays and dont have any help defensively – outside of Cavani – when clearing. The alarm bells were ringing in that area at half-time and Costa Rica exposed them in the second half. – Joel Campbell was great and benefited from a superb cross to score the first and laid in Marco Urena to complete the rout to make it 3-1. In between, Oscar Duarte wasnt tracked on a free kick and scored at the back post although he was inches offside. Ivory Coast 2-1 Japan – It was played while many slept in their beds or stumbled over their pint glass but if you missed it, you missed another good one. – For the fourth time already at this World Cup a team came from a losing position to take the lead. – Another trend at this World Cup has been momentum and, down 1-0 in the 64th minute Ivory Coast rocked Japan back, through the lively right back Serge Aurier. The Toulouse man, destined for a move to the Premier League, produced two outstanding crosses into the box in three minutes and headers from Wilfried Bony and Gervinho changed the game. – Japan, ahead through a Keisuke Honda bullet, couldnt find another gear. Much like Croatia, Spain and Uruguay they had been rocked by a comeback and were not the same when behind. – Yaya Toure doesnt look himself, however, and a funny moment took place in the first half when the ball from a teammate hit him in the face. He shook it off without a problem but I wondered if his mate didnt care too much for birthday cakes. Man of the Day Nominees: Mark Geiger – The World Cup needed a good referee to step up and get things right. The American, who was helped by Canadian Joe Fletcher as his assistant, did exactly that in the first day of the game. James Rodriguez – The Monaco magician was 7-years-old the last time Colombia played a World Cup. He has performed wonderfully in the Champions League but this was his big moment. He is so important to Jose Pekerman, allowing him to play five in midfield and be that deep lying playmaker, making up a midfield three, while also providing the decisive runs into the final third. His passing map (46 of 52) was special. (Stats powered by Opta) Joel Campbell – We should be careful using small sample sizes to come to conclusions about the club game but no one can convince me that Yaya Sanogo is a better option at Arsenal, the club that Campbell belongs to. Andrea Pirlo – Nothing he does should surprise anyone any more. England couldnt find a plan to counter him so they simply didnt even try this time. Antonio Candreva – His tactical intelligence was marvelous. It is one thing for a coach to set out a team to play a certain way; it is something different to have his players recognize key developments in-game. The winner: Andrea Pirlo – Candreva may have changed the game, Balotelli and Claudio Marchisio may have scored the goals but it was Pirlo who was the maestro and who everyone was talking about. It doesnt matter what country you support, this is the last time you will see the magician at a World Cup. Simply sit back and enjoy him while you can. What Comes Next? Téma: Jak postupovat / t guard, sidelined for the past six FIVE QUICK NBA THOUGHTS: 1. DEMAR DEROZAN (Raptors): Hopefully, hes back sooner rather than later. Hell be missed by his team – obviously. Hes such a competitor. After getting hurt the other night, he kept trying to play on his injured foot. He loves the game and Im so impressed with his progress over the years. DeRozan is a mature and serious young man. There is a reason above and beyond his physical ability why hes a good player; he has worked incredibly hard on his skills, his strength and conditioning and is a student of the game. It would be nice to see him make the All Star game. In the meantime, Raptors really need to buckle down defensively and find scoring and consistency in other areas, could be a challenge. Big one tonight here in New York City vs. the red hot Nets. 2. SHAUN LIVINGSTON (Nets): When you watch the Raptors tonight it is always nice to see a guy who has fought back from a devastating injury to have success. When he was a young player with the Clippers, Livingston had a chance to be a special player in this league and then it all got derailed. He has made a difference with Brooklyn, being a sound defender who sets the tone for his team. In the absence of Deron Williams, his leadership was critical for Coach Jason Kidd turning this team around. Not a flashy player yet his smarts, toughness and consistency are a big part why the Nets are surging right now. 3. SPENCER HAWES (Sixers): Hawes has really developed in the past few years into a steady Post player. His rebounding instincts are solid while his back to the basket game has improved. He is also a capable face up shooter. He passes the ball quite well from both the low and high post and is a good fit in a teams attack. When I saw him as a young player at the University of Washington and when he was on the Sacramento Kings, I didnt envision him to have this upside. Hes really carved out a nice niche in Philly. 4. JAMAAL CRAWFORD (Clippers): Raptor fans got to see first-hand why Crawford is probably the best sixth-man in the NBA right now. He dropped 37 points on them, but more importantly he had an amazing 11 assists as well. What a luxury for Doc Rivers brining him off the bench. He changes the game completely when he comes in. You better check him from behind the three-point arc and his dribble moves are tantalizing. Hes bounced around a lot and Ive never understood why – hes always been a good player. Clips are lucky to have him. Hell steal a playoff game or two for them. 5. AL JEFFERSON (Bobcats): Sure, they spent above market value to get Jefferson but in a market like Charlotte, which has had a rough go of it lately, you have to acquire talent somehow. Hes been a good player for them. 19 points per game and 10-plus rebounds per games as well, while shooting 48 % has really helped their team. Hes in terrific shape and has been quite engaged in the rebuilding process. He plays with a terrific front court partner in Josh McRoberts, who does all the little things while Jefferson racks up the points and boards. If the Bobcats add perimeter shooting, (theyre awful in those categories -bottom eight in field goal and three-point field goal percentage) it will really open things up for their team in future years. You can never have enough shot makers. jerseys from china . Téma: Jak postupovat / uidance, I have great ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Detroit Tigers had seen enough from their shaky bullpen to know something had to be done. So the AL Central leaders acquired right-hander Joakim Soria. “Obviously, Im excited to have Joakim on the team,” manager Brad Ausmus said Thursday before the Tigers began a four-game series with the Los Angeles Angels. “Anytime you can get help of his calibre, especially at the back end of the bullpen, I dont think there would be a manager who wouldnt be excited about it.” Detroit dealt pitching prospects Corey Knebel and Jake Thompson to the Texas Rangers to get the 30-year-old Soria on Wednesday night. “We gave up a lot, guys that we valued,” Dave Dombrowski, the Tigers general manager said. “But it was a necessity.” The Tigers have been working on improving their bullpen for weeks because closer Joe Nathan has been inconsistent and Joel Hanrahan apparently will not be able to pitch this year. Setup man Joba Chamberlain has been their only reliable reliever. Soria was 1-3 with a 2.70 ERA, saving 17 games in 19 chances this year with the Rangers. He is 15-18 with a 2.51 and 177 saves in 199 chances over five years with the Kansas City Royals and two in Texas. The Rangers signed Soria to an $8 million, two-year contract before last season as he was recovering from his second Tommy John surgery. His contract includes a $7 million club option for 2015 with a $500,000 buyout, making him even more attractive to the Tigers. Soria sounded as if he will be happy with whatever role the Tigers give him. He is joining a franchise aiming for its first World Series championship since 1984 and leaving a last-place team that has had high hopes dashed by a slew of injuries. “This is a good feeling,” the Mexican-born Soria said at his locker in Angel Stadium while accepting welcoming handshakes from several of his new teammates. “Im grateful to Texas, because they picked me up when I was hurt. So I wish all the best for them. But now Im in a different family, its a different feeling. Im willing to do whatever they want me to do and do whatever it takes to help this team win as many games as we can. My goal is to win the World Series.” Ausmus said that Nathan, a six-time All-Star, will remain as the closer with Soria starting out as the seventh-inning reliever and Chamberlain staying in his current setup role. “Id probably leave Joba in the eighth inning because hes pitched so well there,” Ausmus said. “I talked to Joakim about pitching in the eighth if Joba wasnt available, and in the ninth of Joe wasnt available. So he was open to help any way he can. Hes pitched in all those roles before, so having someone with Joakims experience in the ninth if Joe cant go is enormous.” Ausmus is grateful for the chance to have two closers with All-Star credentials at his disposal, but insisted that Nathan is his guy right now — although he wouldnt use him more than three days in a row. “I never saw (Soria) as a threat as a teammate,” Nathan said. “Hes another great arm that we brought over here. Hes a gamer. Hes a winner. He wants the baseball and he just loves to compete.” Nathan has struggled at times this season, but not enough to give Ausmus a reason to take him out of the closer role. “Even though Ive done quite a bit in this game, one of those things Ive also done is pull myself out of the closer role when I dont feel as if Im helping the club,” Nathan said. “But right now is not one of those instances. Im definitely throwing the ball with more consistency and getting a lot more swings and misses, which is always a good sign. But with that said, this is Brads decision.” When the Tigers were considering making a move to add Soria, they asked Nathan and Ian Kinsler about him. “Both of them were effusive in their praise of him as a player and a pitcher and as far as his makeup on the team,” Dombrowski recalled. “One of the comments was, Why dont we have him yet? It was a real plus for us to know we can have another quality pitcher for next year.” To help this season, Detroit signed Hanrahan to a $1 million, one-year deal in May — a year after he had elbow surgery — to pitch out of the bullpen. Dombrowski, though, said it is “highly unlikely,” that Hanrahan will pitch this season. “Were not counting on him at all,” Dombrowski said. On Saturday, the former bantamweight champion hopes to combine his scary side with his smarts as he takes on young gun Michael (Mayday) McDonald at UFC 145 in Atlanta. Under Montreal trainer Firas Zahabi, the 31-year-old Torres has been learning to control what he calls his inner beast or monster and became a more cerebral fighter — to pick his shots and use his full arsenal. “Thats not natural to me,” he concedes. "Thats the hardest part of how I train, because if it was up to me Id make every fight a brawl. “I would go out there and I would Leonard Garcia every fight,” he said, referencing a fellow UFC fighter whose style is to swing for the fences. "But Ive learned from my past losses that you cant do that. “Eventually someones going to figure you out and theyre going to be waiting for it. So the biggest thing that Ive been working on now is meshing the two styles. Being cerebral and aggressive at the same time.” Torres (39-4) turned to Zahabi in the wake of a March 2010 loss to Joseph Benavidez. He has lost his 135-pound WEC title the fight before to Brian Bowles and realized he needed to change. Torres has also expanded his training regimen, splitting time between the Tristar gym in Montreal and former light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans Blackzillians crew in Boca Raton, Fla. (the names came out of a comment that at one point the fighters in the gym were all black or Brazilian). McDonald (14-1) will be his fifth fight under Zahabi. “I know I have more things in my arsenal than what Ive been using, but in those fights I wanted to demonstrate those techniques and prove to myself mentally that they would work,” Torres said. “I know they work and I know that Im ready to go out there and use them.” Torres has won three of four since joining forces with Zahabi, whose most famous client is welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. He has wins over Charlie Valencia, Antonio Banuelos, and most recently Nick Pace. Demetrious (Mighty Mouse) Johnson, now fighting at 125 pounds, defeated him by decision at UFC 130 last May. McDonald offers an intriguing test. Just 21, the second youngest fighter in the UFC, he has won all three of his fights in the UFC and looked very composed in doing so. How good is McDonald, who started kickboxing at age 12, fighting as an MMA amateur at 14, and turned pro at 16? “Well Im going to test how good he is,” Torres said. "Hes a great fighter against the guys thats he fought against. Hes a great counter-striker. No one has ffought him the correct way yet, no ones fought him very smart yet.dddddddddddd He fought one of my training partners (Chris Cariaso) to a split decision. Hes tough, hes young but he hasnt seen the things that Ive seen yet and he hasnt been pushed yet. “He will be pushed and he will be put in a position hes never been put before and I cant wait until I get to do that to him.” Torres is getting a second lease on life in the UFC, restored to the roster after being cut for an offensive tweet. “I learned from the situation. I made a mistake, I learned from it and its behind me now. I look forward to the future.” With current bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and challenger Urijah (The California Kid ) Faber currently showcased on TV as coaches on “The Ultimate Fighter” reality TV show, you might expect Torres would be glued to his set. But he says he has only seen snippets online. “I know Dominicks and Urijahs personality already,” he said. “Theyre both great fighters. The show for me is something that I dont really pay attention to too much.” Torres instead focuses on McDonald, the latest step in moving his name back up the bantamweight ladder. Asked if he believes he has been overlooked in recent years, Torres says thats just the way it is in MMA. “One day, youre the main guy on the page and then after a loss or two youre on the backburner. … That comes with the territory, it doesnt bother me at all.” And Torres insists he has the team behind him now to return to the top. "Mentally I know what I can do, I know who I train with, I know the things that Ive seen, I know where Ive been. I know where Im going, first and foremost I know where Im going to go. And I will be back at the top. I have great guidance, I have great management, I have great coaches, I have great training partners, I have a wonderful family and I have a great staff in my gym and I have awesome students. “So I have nothing to hold me back. In the past, I had a lot of things that were holding me back. And these days I dont have that any more.” Still, Torres is paying the price, every time he leaves his family daughter in east Chicago, Ind., to train in Montreal or Florida. He used to train in his own gym, living there during the week. “Its totally different, because I dont see them at all here. When I was staying at my gym, Id be there Monday through Friday. Id come home on the weekends or my (four-year-old) daughter would come to the gym. It was a huge difference. . . . Being here, in Montreal (or Florida), I dont see anyone and thats very hard.” ’ ’ ’ |

Téma: Jak postupovat / s and Decker were invited The best in Canadian figure skating faced off in the Canadian championships this past weekend where the line-up for Sochi was decided. Headliners Patrick Chan, Kaetlyn Osmond and Ice Dance pair Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir were only four of the 17 skaters nominated to Team Canada. With such a large team how many medals can we expect from Team Canada in Sochi? Three-time reigning world champion Chan certainly has a resume that speaks for itself. He won his seventh consecutive Canadian mens title Saturday and has broken world records for short program, long program and overall scores. He has had a great season and will look to improve on his 2010 Olympic fifth-place finish in Vancouver. Virtue and Moir are the reigning Olympic ice dance champions looking to capture gold once again for Canada. The biggest obstacle in their way comes in the form of American pair Meryl Davis and Charlie White, their rivals who have been battling back and forth with the Canadians for the top of the podium all season. 18-year-old Osmond has struggled with injury since withdrawing from Skate Canada in November. She returned to competition this weekend and did not disappoint. The two-time Canadian womens champion flashed the judges her infectious smile while showing no signs of rust from her time off. Canada will be well represented at Sochi and is filled with many other talented skaters hungry for success in the mens and womens singles, pairs and ice dance competitions. By qualifying 17 skaters Canada is the top ranked team in the new Olympic team competition. They will have one entry in each of the eight contests in the team event. All of the athletes totals scores will be added together to decide the victors. This new event gives each competing nation one more chance to reach the podium. In the Olympic Games anything can happen. But how many medals can we expect from Team Canada in Sochi? As always, its Your! Call. china jerseys . ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos took another step in the renovation of their secondary Tuesday by agreeing to a four-year deal with Pro Bowl safety T.J. Ward. Ward will play in a backfield that will be without Champ Bailey, who was released last week, and could move on without Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who entered free agency without a new deal from the Broncos. Ward had 129 tackles and two interceptions for Cleveland last year. The Broncos are looking for some stability at a position that got juggled last year, with the loss of Rahim Moore and the inconsistent play of Duke Ihenacho. Veteran Mike Adams, also formerly of Cleveland, started the season as a reserve but ended up in the starting lineup. “Hes a young, explosive strong safety who is going to bring a lot of energy and toughness to our secondary,” Broncos boss John Elway said of Ward. But the Broncos arent expected to make the sort of free-agent plays that marked their last two seasons, when they signed Wes Welker and Peyton Manning. Denvers big receiving news Tuesday was a two-year extension for fourth receiver Andre Caldwell, who could move up a notch if the Broncos part ways with Eric Decker. Caldwell came on late in the season when Welker was sidelined with a concussion. The 28-year-old Caldwell had 11 of his 16 receptions over the final three games of the season. His most productive game in 2013 was against San Diego on Dec.dddddddddddd 12, when he had six receptions for 59 yards and two TDs. Caldwell was held without a catch in the 43-8 loss to Seattle in the Super Bowl. “Hopefully I can compete for an extended role this year and contribute a lot more to the team,” Caldwell said. Caldwell received an invitation from Manning to attend off-season workouts at Duke University. Last spring, only Welker, Demaryius Thomas and Decker were invited to work on their chemistry with the five-time NFL MVP quarterback. “Its just a process of building confidence with those guys all the way from April,” Caldwell said. Ward is expected to be a main piece around which the Broncos reshape a defence that was obliterated by an injury epidemic last season, losing Von Miller, Chris Harris Jr., Derek Wolfe, Kevin Vickerson and Moore. The Broncos also could seek a replacement for linebacker Wesley Woodyard, a free agent who is exploring other options. Theyll need a new starting guard now that Zane Beadles has agreed to terms with Jacksonville. Running back Knowshon Moreno is a free agent as well after rushing for 1,038 yards and 10 TDs in 2013. The Broncos also hired two new coaches on Tuesday, bringing in assistant offensive line coach James Cregg and offensive quality control coach Bo Hardegree. ’ ’ ’ |

Téma: Jak postupovat / andall-Cobb-Packers-Jersey WINNIPEG – As an early afternoon practice wrapped in the blustery Manitoba capital of Winnipeg, Maple Leafs head coach Randy Carlyle ambled over to James Reimer, stretching just outside the visitors crease, and offered a quick word. He, the 25-year-old Toronto backup net-minder and Manitoba native, would be making just his fourth start in the past 16 games against the Jets the following evening. It was the word of opportunity for Reimer, who has fallen into the role of backup, outmatched in recent weeks by Jonathan Bernier, his Quebec counterpart. “Its been,” said Reimer in conversation with the Leaf Report, pausing briefly to choose his words, “its been an interesting year. Thats maybe the best way I can describe it.” More than eight months after he steered the Leafs into their first playoff appearance in nine years and Reimer is no longer the no. 1 guy in Toronto. Bernier has wrestled hold of that mantle for the time being, earning the bulk of starts since the middle of December – 32 on the year compared with 21 for Reimer. Challenged, doubted, and dissected often throughout his 127-game NHL career, be it through summer trade talk for Roberto Luongo, deadline trade talk for Miikka Kiprusoff or a concussion that badly derailed his first full season, Reimer has managed to overcome a series of different hurdles in his tenure as a Leaf, but maybe nothing quite like this. Bernier is not a rumoured threat, nor a nagging injury to bypass, but a feisty challenger itching to prove himself in the spotlight. And thus far, the 25-year-old has taken full advantage of the opportunity hes been granted in Toronto, sitting amongst the top-10 in league save percentage (.925), while eventually establishing himself as the Leafs undeclared no. 1 starter. The looming challenge for Reimer is to snatch the job right back. And he plans to fight for it. He has not and has no intention of asking for a trade out of Toronto despite circumstances (Bernier trade, a proven track record) that might have led others in his situation to stray down that path. “Your end goal is to be the guy and you want that, but youve got to focus on everyday what I need to do so that that can happen,” said Reimer. "Its like I want to win the Cup, but its not like every day I hit the ice Im going to win the Cup. I want to win the Cup, but when I hit the ice its what do I need to do to be the best I can be. And if you focus on that everyday then eventually the Cup will come. “Same with this (situation). Its obviously something you want. Its something you really want. But youve got to focus on a lot smaller goals.” Those goals start with making full use of the opportunities he gets, however infrequent, and reshape a race that is likely far from over. One such opportunity presented itself earlier this week in Denver, Reimer propelling the Leafs to an unlikely 5-2 win over the Avalanche with 35 big saves. And now another opportunity looms against the Jets on Saturday evening, his club looking to avenge a 7-1 loss in Dallas two nights earlier. Reimers only real control in the matter of playing time is performance. And though he started with a bang in October – a gaudy .949 save percentage in six games – that performance has dipped downward (albeit with little help in some situations) with Bernier proving the more reliable and consistent of the two. “Thats exactly the way you approach it,” Reimer said of earning more starts with performance. "You try not to look ahead. You try not to say Id like to get 10 out of 12 (starts) or 10 out of 20, or whatever, three out of seven, whatever it may be. “To me, when I get the nod I want to go out there and play my heart out.” This is unfamiliar terrain for the Morweena native, that of the NHL backup. Though he very briefly battled with Ben Scrivens at the outset of last season, Reimer has quickly defined himself as a viable starter in the league, finishing 2013 with eighth best save percentage while steering the Leafs to a near-first round upset of the Bruins in the playoffs. He owns an impressive 63-38-15 career mark with a sturdy .915 save percentage. Falling into the role of second fiddle, thus, has been a challenge, mostly in the mental arena. “Its 105 per cent mental, I think, this game,” said Reimer. “Its all about trying to be in the right mindset and trying to stay positive and knowing that when you have the extra time to work on stuff thats what youve got to do. Youve got to work your butt off so that when you get the nod youre as prepared as you can (be).” His longer-term future in Toronto remains murky at best. Reimer is a restricted free agent this summer with Bernier locked up for another year. In theory, the organization could opt to keep both – though Reimer holds arbitration rights and would seem to hold a pretty good case for a good raise – but more than likely one will be gone by next fall, if not sooner. Both want and have earned the right to start. The choice will ultimately belong to general manager Dave Nonis, who brought Bernier into the fold from Los Angeles in his first big splash as the Maple Leafs boss last summer. Reimer wants to stay and wont ask to go. But he also wants to play and intends to fight to do so. “I feel like Im becoming a better person for it or at least I hope so,” he said of the experience this season. “I feel like Im battling and grinding and trying to do everything I can. As far as I know if youre doing that then thats all you can do.” . Téma: Jak postupovat / ng to Forbes, have the least After looking at real-time NHL stats like giveaways and takeaways, and acknowledging the possible inaccuracies that come with a judgment-based statistic, the next one to tackle is hits. Scott Cullen looks at the numbers and comes up with the leaders and trailers in hits per 60 minutes of even strength play last season in the NHL. To consider the challenges that exist when dealing with the hit statistic, allow me a brief story about my own experience. Many (many, many) years ago when I was playing Midget AAA in Kitchener, I was on the shelf for a couple of months with a broken ankle. At that time, any one of the players that werent in the lineup (due to injuries or suspensions), would often be charged with tracking hits for the team. Our coach was hard-nosed and expected our team to win the physical battles every night, so he probably paid closer attention to hits than was probably necessary. Without having modern advanced stats to back it up, I can assure you we had the puck possession numbers to compare favourably with any team we faced and those would have been more important than our hit totals. Nevertheless, during one of the games in which I was assigned to track hits, I handed the sheet to our coach at the end of the game, a disappointing loss, and he looked at me quizzically. “Is this right,” he asked. “Yes,” I said, unable to imagine that I would be assigned to track hits and not do it as accurately as I possibly could. He then stormed into the dressing room and tore a strip off one of our defencemen — who was eventually a first-round pick in the NHL — for having zero hits recorded. That wasnt ever this defencemans style of game, so I didnt see it as much of an issue, but it was easy to stand out on a relatively physical team with zero hits and our coach jumped on it to make a point. In much the same way, though, a players hit total does not provide much correlation with a players value, since one cant have the puck and deliver a hit, to say nothing about how there is always going to be a variance in how hits are recorded from one rink to another. Even so, the numbers can be interesting for comparison purposes and, just look at this, we found something, aside from Tweets, Tatts and appearances on the Marilyn Denis Show, in which Biz Nasty leads the league. Among players that played at least 25 games, then, here are the 50 forwards with the most hits per 60 minutes of even strength play: Rank PLAYER TEAM POS ES HITS ESTOI HITS/60 1. That there are four Maple Leafs defencemen in the Top 25 might be neatly correlated to the fact that Toronto had three of the bottom 15 players overall when it comes to giveaways. After all, when Luke Schenn, Mike Komisarek or Keith Aulie turn the puck over, wouldnt their first reaction be to run into the player who just took the puck? Seems to make some sense, particularly when this list is juxtaposed with the defencemen who dont register a lot of hits. We have the numbers now. The numbers dont lie. Its an amazing day.” The Expos left after the 2004 season to become the Washington Nationals amid dwindling attendance at the concrete and much-maligned Olympic Stadium in the citys east end. The reason for Cromarties unbridled enthusiasm at a news conference Thursday was an Ernst & Young feasibility study that suggests baseball could thrive in Montreal if the city had a new stadium. The study was commissioned by Cromarties group — the Montreal Baseball Project — and the Montreal Board of Trade. Ernst & Young cited a strong demand for seeason tickets, the teams salary cap but especially revenue-sharing and increased TV rights as the reasons it reached its conclusion.dddddddddddd The report said the project would cost just over $1 billion — $500 million for the facility and $525 million for the franchise. Ernst & Young based the $525-million figure on the average price of the 10 MLB teams that, according to Forbes, have the least economic value. The firms scenario includes a government contribution of about $335 million. Cromartie and the board of trade are looking for someone who can deliver money — and lots of it. “My next step is to find a champion,” he said. "A champion with passion, a champion with integrity, a champion with assets, because we cant get done without it. "Were looking for a big player, a cleanup hitter, somebody who wants to be part of history, be a hero. “We got a ball game going here. We got a game going. Since then, he has become one of the teams more versatile running back, averaging 821 yards from scrimmage per season. Last season, Thomas was the Saints leading rusher with 549 yards. His 513 receiving yards also were the most for a running back. And his five combined touchdowns were tied for second-most on the team. Not of course the half measures type, Ferguson did so in the same type of dramatic style as like his team displayed in the closing minutes when winning the 1999 Champions League final at the Nou Camp. His wide ranging chat with Charlie Rose in the week likely caused a ripple effect on NYSE ticker symbol MANU. The timing could not have been better for the Chosen 1, David Moyes. His media prey brilliantly distracted and diverted by the person who told him in early May he would be the next Manchester United manager. Told Moyes? Not so much even an interview then. Head hunted Fergie style. Using the front of inviting Moyes round to the house for a late afternoon cup of tea it was. However, such relief away from the immense spotlight is always very temporary as Moyes will learn throughout his Old Trafford tenure. Having already suffered the three BPL defeats this early on in the season, although highly improbable, another defeat in Saturdays lunch time game at Sunderland and the word Beleaguered will attach itself like an anchor to Moyes. Mid table mediocrity is not what was in the plans. Nor the budget where a Champions League place is mandatory. It would likely spill over into Fergusons planned tour to promote his Autobiography which is scheduled for release October 24. Then just like the Spice Girls in their prime, right after his tome is released the Knight of the Realm goes on a short sold out tour of England, Scotland and Ireland. You couldnt invent this stuff even if you were Simon Fuller. Sorry Mr. Cowell. The precursor to all this was Fergusons fireside chat with Charlie Rose. Fergie positioning the brand impeccably with the US Academic set. As well briefed as Rose always is with his subjects Ferguson fully aware such disclosures like Romans 2003 approach would have lit a fire even under the most roll over belly tickling media types back in Manchester or London. Rose didnt even bat 1 of those famous eyelids to what is a pulse racing type disclosure. Too bad when Fergie came over all Kentucky Derby sophisticated Rose dont hit him with the twin force that is John Magnier and JP McManus. Old horse racing partners of Sir Alex – the three had an almighty fall out of all things the breeding rights of a thoroughbred Rock of Gibraltar. Who wouldnt in his prime look out of place at those immaculately manicured Churchill Downs lawns. In 2004, John Magnier and JP McManus were the largest shareholders of Manchester United. Such was the seething anger resulting from the horse nonsense they were reported to be willing accomplices to block attempts to extend Fergusons contract for any duration longer than 12 months. Ultimately, Magnier and McManus settled out of court with Fergguson regarding the horse, and sold their combined quarter stake in Manchester United to Malcolm Glazer.dddddddddddd Staying with the betting theme – with well-regarded UK bookmakers now doing a tidy business offering odds Ferguson would return to management Ferguson disclosed to Rose, You would be throwing your money down the drain if you put any money on me coming back as a manager. Adding, I made my decision. The timing was perfect. There is no way back for me now. Ive got a new life. The timing for Sir tied to Lady Fergusons loss late last year of her sister. Fergusons academic self was a central tenet and main theme of the Rose chat, the Rooney and Beckham references mere fodder for the red top tabloids of Manchester and London. We know now Fergies bucket list includes a trip to the Masters and a desire to visit Tuscany vineyards. Wonder if that type of discussions ever came up with the Mike Rileys and Graham Polls of the world during those world famous Old Trafford touchline chats. Hair dryers not required. The first wind I got of Fergusons non-football self was in a disclosure by Italys 2006 World Cup winning manager, Marcello Lippi who revealed he and Ferguson were extremely close friends. Nothing revealing there, apart from the fact when Sir Alex and Lippi conversed it wasnt in Gruff Glaswegian but French. Fergie the connoisseur. For all the silverware Ferguson collected, his immense abilities to rebuild, reinvent winning dynasties – the legacy he leaves behind does not though include any empirical evidence which would back up his theory Manchester United under Moyes will be successful. Something he explicitly stated to Rose. Get as adamant as you want, but this Sir Alex is completely out of even your immense control. Fergusons old sparring partners Arsene and José alongside others like AVB and Pellegrini will have a far larger say. When he bolted the Manchester United stable rather abruptly that crop of players Ferguson left behind, many of whom by their performances so far this season certainly appear past their sell by dates, also possess individually and collectively a large say. Until their shipping out is completed at least. Then the Euro stage, where by no means did Manchester United under Ferguson light it up in a manner even close to their domestic selves – Pep, Carlito, Jurgen and Bruno plus numerous others are light years ahead of Fergusons Chosen 1. Moreover, if the Moyes-Woodwood summer transfer window embarrassment coupled with Uniteds current annus horribilis season to date, is any indication then we may well be in for an extended winter of Manchester United discontent.
